Who are we?
The company was founded on the lands of the Bordéo farm, cultivated since 1962 by the von Keyserlingk family in Costa Verde.
A respect and symbiosis have been established between the plants and the family, and by extension with the company, certified organic and biodynamic by Certisud and Demeter since 1985.
The plants processed at the distillery come either from the farm's garden and plantations or from "wild" harvesting – meaning the harvesting of endemic aromatic plants in the Corsican vegetation. Since 2020, we have had partnership projects for the production of plants such as Immortelle.

We are Farmers and Distillers; we create and manufacture the products ourselves. We hold strong values regarding product quality and respect for nature and people. It is a priority for us to understand our impact and to make it as positive as possible.

Essences Naturelles Corses' expertise is based on a unique alliance between historical heritage and scientific rigor. While we perpetuate 19th-century perfumers' artisanal recipes to extract olfactory compounds with pure and exceptionally rich aromas from Corsican flora, this traditional approach is now validated and optimized by modern science.
Every step of our production benefits from recent technological advances and cutting-edge expertise in clinical aromatherapy. Our distillates are not merely the result of an ancestral practice; they are rigorously analyzed by gas chromatography to guarantee a perfect biochemical composition and maximum therapeutic activity. It is this synergy between ancestral techniques, which faithfully preserve the integrity of plants without any synthetic additives, and current scientific research that makes our products unique and effective.

Our Story
Origins — A Refuge Becomes a Promise
Fleeing Cold War tensions, Albrecht and Marie-Bertha von Keyserlingk chose Corsica at 62 and 55 years old. No water, no electricity, no roads. Just the maquis to clear, sweat, and tenacity.
A ruin discovered by chance first became a shelter, then the living heart of the farm. For twelve years, the family lived without comfort, driven by a simple idea: patiently build something meaningful. They dug wells, blazed trails, and saved every franc. They sowed what quickly provided sustenance — vegetables, eggs, then sheep — while waiting for the future. On the hills, they built terraces and planted the first clementine trees. Four years of silence before the first harvests, punctuated by drought, frost, floods, diseases, and insects. Each season was a trial, each fruit a victory. Then came the olive trees, then kiwis, brought from afar, acclimatized here.
Taken over by Albrecht junior - organic and biodynamic conversion
The company was taken over by one of the sons, Albrecht junior, who gave it a new direction with the conversion to organic and biodynamic farming, giving it new impetus through dried and fragrant plants.
Organic and Demeter Certifications
A lasting and demanding commitment, formalized and recognized. The beginning of a rigor maintained to this day.
Birth of the Essences Naturelles Corses distillery
Launch of aromatic and medicinal plant cultivation and wild harvesting in the heart of the Corsican mountains. The essential oils produced are of "wild harvest" quality, with no inputs or pesticides.
This required the construction of new buildings, new facilities, additional experienced staff, and marked the beginning of a new era, perpetuated to this day by the 3rd generation.
The Immortal — our DNA
Distilled since 1990, Corsican Immortelle became the heart of the company and an entire industry. It was the first collaboration with L'Occitane en Provence for its cultivation in Corsica.
Albrecht supported this visionary project; Sophia, as founding secretary of APROHEC (Association of Corsican Essential Oil Producers), participated in submitting the PGI application for Corsican Immortelle essential oil. Our conviction remained intact: Corsican Immortelle is unique, with a singular aromatic composition and remarkable levels of italidiones and neryl acetate, which are responsible for its exceptional regenerating, circulatory, and anti-bruising properties.
Sophia joins the management team
The youngest child settled in Corsica and modernized production and the product range. One of five children, she started out alongside her brother and sister Bianca (who would later open the Lilith boutique in Frankfurt).
After agricultural training and a specialization in aromatherapy, she revitalized the business and developed a new, high-performance range of effective and authentic natural cosmetics.
The Gardens of Bordéo
Creation of a new structure to formalize Sophia's takeover since 2017. Respect for the environment and sustainability are at the heart of the operation. The focus is on producing high-quality organic and Demeter essential oils and hydrosols, as well as developing natural cosmetics entirely free of pesticides and in harmony with nature.
CSR approach and carbon footprint
CSR training at the end of 2024: local sourcing, waste reduction, energy sobriety. In 2026, Essences Naturelles Corses will carry out its first carbon assessment to measure and reduce its emissions at each stage – cultivation, distillation, packaging, transport.
Investments in more efficient equipment to improve quality, traceability and safety, while reducing environmental impact.

ManagerI took over the family business in San Nicolao in 2019. I studied environmental science and in 2013 I returned to Corsica to work at the distillery. Since taking over the company, I have instilled a simple and profound vision: to put people and nature back at the heart of everything we do. Our company is dedicated to natural cosmetics and aromatherapy — products that heal, beautify, and respect all living things.

Grower ManagerA pillar of our production, Aurélien is our vineyard manager and tractor driver. He's the one you won't often see, but who works tirelessly. His leonine strength and ability to find solutions to everything make him an invaluable asset. He is responsible for enhancing the garden and plantations. He sprays biodynamic preparations according to lunar and planetary cycles to enrich the soil and give energy and vital force to the plants.
