Origins

A key ingredient in the Antillean Ti'punch and Cuban Mojito, the lime actually originates from Southeast Asia. Arriving late in the Mediterranean, where it has been commercially cultivated since the early 20th century, it has found a prominent place in our dishes.

The essential oil extracted from the fruit's pericarp has the characteristic fragrance of lime and can be diffused to purify the ambient air. A drop on the pillow, the collar of pajamas, a handkerchief, or a pebble on the bedside table can promote sleep.

Furthermore, it is calming, sedative, and carminative. Highly valued in cooking, it flavors both savory dishes and desserts.
