Origins

Kaffir lime or Combava (Citrus hystrix) is a citrus fruit native to an Indonesian island formerly called Sumbawa, from which it gets its name. Its cultivation in our gardens, where it has acclimatized very well, is a success and we love its very particular aroma in cooking, pastries, and drinks.

It is usually the Kaffir lime leaf that is steam distilled. Here we distill the whole fruit, unlike other citrus fruits which are usually cold-pressed. We obtain a very fine hydrosol that gently reproduces the very particular fragrance of this fruit.

Like its essential oil, it can be used in cooking to add an exotic and citrusy touch to your dishes.

In cosmetics, it is ideal for oily skin or skin with impurities. Its draining properties can be enjoyed as an internal cure or sprayed on the body before a beauty massage. And kept cool during the summer, it refreshes with its sparkling notes as a facial mist.

Properties: Draining, antioxidant, kidney and digestive tonic, soothing, atmospheric purifier.

Areas of action: Cellulite, water retention, diet, heavy legs, lymphatic drainage.
Oily or impure skin, Asian cuisine, flavoring of drinks and cocktails.

Quality

Appearance: Clear liquid

Color: Colorless

Culture: At Bordéo Farm, we place great importance on working in harmony with nature, the plant, and people. Combava is cultivated on our land using organic and biodynamic farming methods.
It is therefore Certisud and Demeter certified, as is its floral water.

Precautions for use

Hydrolates are gentler than essential oils. They have no intrinsic contraindications.

However, this does not exclude the possibility of you reacting to the active ingredients they contain (if in doubt, do an elbow crease test).

Storage: Please note, floral waters are fresh products. Their shelf life is therefore shorter than that of essential oils (around 1 year). To maximize it, be sure to store your hydrolates in a cool place, away from air, heat and light.

  • Great food +++

  • Oral route +++

  • Increased friction

  • Massage highly recommended

Essential oils are powerful and complex substances that must be handled with care! If you are new to aromatherapy, please consult our advice page and seek guidance from a professional (specialist pharmacist or therapist) who is the only one qualified to provide personalized advice – these guidelines are not a substitute for a consultation.
