Origins

Stoechas lavender is the variety of lavender that grows in the Corsican maquis. It produces a very potent essential oil, making it one of the essential oils reserved for experienced aromatherapists! Unlike true lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), which grows in calcareous soil, stoechas lavender takes root in the siliceous soil of the maquis. Its twining flowers have earned it the nickname "Butterfly Lavender." Stoechas lavender is harvested wild during its flowering period in April.

We distill the flowering tops, as with Immortelle. The yield is 0.9 to 1.8 kg of oil per tonne of fresh plant material distilled.

Precautions for use

Lavender stoechas contains a very high level of ketones, molecules with neurotoxic and abortive properties, its use is prohibited internally, use prohibited in babies, young children (<7 years), pregnant and breastfeeding women, the elderly and epileptics.

Always use essential oils diluted in a carrier oil. See our blog for dosage instructions.
