Origins

Originally from Egypt, marjoram has been cultivated around the Mediterranean basin since antiquity, notably for its digestive properties. The Greeks and Romans crowned newlyweds with it to bring them good luck and promote their fertility.
This perennial plant has long been associated with love. Mythology tells us that the goddess Aphrodite gave it its sweet and slightly spicy fragrance simply by brushing against its leaves.
