Origins

Nicknamed "magician's herb" or "witch's herb," and revered by the Greeks, Romans, and Germanic peoples, it's no wonder that priests of ancient religions wore vervain as crowns. It is reputed to protect the home from evil spells, aid in divination, and attract love (an essential ingredient in love potions!).

Also known as sweet verbena, lemon verbena is a woody-stemmed shrub belonging to the Verbenaceae family. Its soft-looking leaves are, however, irritating before being dried. They produce an herbal tea with soothing and digestive properties, and can also be used as a flavoring in many dishes.

Verbena essential oil delicately unfolds a sweet citrus fragrance, and not only relaxes the digestive system on a physical level, but also acts on the emotional and mental levels: it provides security, confidence, and a calm and creative atmosphere. It motivates teams and work groups.

As a regulator, it helps to find mental balance. Vervain restores confidence when one is overwhelmed by daily life, anxious, and lacking serenity.
