Origins

Nicknamed "magicians' herb" or "witches' herb", revered by the Greeks, Romans and Germans, it is no coincidence that priests of ancient religions wore Vervain in crowns. It is reputed to protect the home from
evil spells, aid in divination and attract love (an essential ingredient in love potions!).

Vervain essential oil delicately releases a sweet citrus scent, and not only relaxes the digestive system on a physical level, but also acts on emotional and mental levels: it provides security, confidence, a calm and creative atmosphere. It motivates troops and work groups. Vervain restores confidence when one is overwhelmed by daily life, anxious and lacking serenity. It helps to regain psychic balance.

Also known as sweet vervain, lemon verbena is a woody-stemmed shrub belonging to the Verbenaceae family. Its soft-looking leaves are, however, irritating before being dried. They produce a calming and digestive herbal tea, and can also be used as a condiment in many dishes.

We have been cultivating Vervain for over 25 years in our gardens, and distill it in early summer and autumn.
