ORIGINS & HISTORY OF Common Juniper

This shrub or bush can reach a height of 4 to 10 meters. The leaves are evergreen needles, vertical in threes, very sharp, with a keel on the upper side and a thick white band of stomata on the underside. Common juniper is native to a large part of the Northern Hemisphere, in both America and Eurasia.

It takes approximately 100 kg of berries to hope to obtain 1.5 kg of essential oil.

These berries are used to flavor various alcoholic beverages such as Gin or Jenever.
